Confusion

The kindergarten registration went fine. It was less of an ordeal than I thought it would be. We signed some papers, received some packets of info, and took a tour of the elementary. Which I must say was very clean and didn't smell at all like puppy dogs or vomit. Lulu was supposed to have her vision and hearing tested by a very grandmotherly school nurse, but she had to leave before we got in there. She was very anxious to see every. room. in. the. entire. school, and one of her possible teachers was nice enough to show her around. I SOOO want that teacher to be Lulu's. She was the epitome of a kindergarten teacher. So sweet and so soft spoken. I just wanted to take her home and dunk her in my coffee. I am very nervous about the dropping off and picking up procedures. There are two lanes for both and kindergarteners are on the inside lane, luckily. I don't know why, but it just makes me nervous thinking of all the cars and the chaos. The playground met her approval, as did the library which she would have been happy to move into that very afternoon. And then there was the drive home: Lulu: Can we go to Rosa's tonight for dinner? Me: No, we have to get home and get ready for school tommorrow. Lulu: (practically bouncing out of her seat) My new kindergarten?! Me: No, your preschool that you go to now. Lulu: But when do I go to my new kindergarten? Me: Well, you have a couple more weeks of school and then it's summer vacation, and then after summer vacation you will start kindergarten. Lulu: But I want to go to the new school. Me: Well, you have to finish going to your preschool first and then in a few months, kindergarten will start. Lulu: Oh. Can Blondie come, too? Blondie: (very loudly) I WANNA GO TOO! CAN I GO WITH LULU TO SCHOOL TOMMOROW?! Me: We can take Lulu to her preschool tommorow. Lulu: But can she come with me to kindergarten? Blondie: I WANNA GO TO KINDERGARTEN!!! Me: Blondie, when Lulu goes to kindergarten, you will go to preschool. Lulu: My preschool that I go to now? Me: Yes. Blondie: I WANNA GO TO PRESCHOOL WITH LULU!!! Me: No, Blondie, you will go to Lulu's preschool, but then Lulu will go to kindergarten. Lulu: Can she come tommorow with me? Blondie: I WANNA GO TO SCHOOL TOMMOROW!! Me: No, Lulu, you have to go to preschool tommorow and then after summer vacation you will go to kindergarten, and Blondie will go to preschool. Lulu: Tommorow? Blondie: I WANNA GO TOMMOROW! Me: No, not tommorow, in a few months. Lulu: (starting to cry) But I haven't finished my school yet and Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Pierce will miss me! Me: No, you can go to school tommorow, Lulu. Lulu: Kindergarten? Me: (teeth clenched) How about we listen to some Wiggles music? Lulu: Mom? Me: Yes? Lulu: Can we go to Rosa's for dinner?
