For Heather

As I said in my previous post, today's the day to go over and donate what you can to Heather from Especially Heather. The minimum bid is $1.00 and really, who can't spare at least $1.00? I don't know about you, but I always have a few bucks just sitting in my Paypal account from Ebay transactions, so that would be a great way to spend it. You know you don't really need another 1975 collector's edition Spiderman shot glass! The whole situation at Virginia Tech is tragic and i'm sorry for those students and parents, but it doesn't really hit home for me like Heather's story does. I guess because I don't have college-aged kids and I don't personally know anyone who is affected by it. But, Heather's situation just breaks my heart. This could be me or any one of our friends. We all have small children and are (relatively) young parents. I seriously could not imagine being told I probably won't live to see my kids graduate from high school or get married. And that poor littlest one who is so sick. She needs her mama. I know people are leary of scams these days, but if you read the archives of her blog, it is obviously not a scam. Put yourself in her shoes or her friends' and family's shoes. I know that I would want the absolute best medical care that money can buy. They are accepting donations for a couple of weeks or so--she goes to the Mayo Clinic at the end of this month, so they are trying to get as much money raised as they can to help with travel costs, etc. I will leave my button in the sidebar for a couple of weeks, too, so that you people who don't read my blog everyday (be ashamed!) will see it and have an opportunity to help out. Okay, off my soapbox now. Gotta go--I have to go take the batteries out of a certain dancing, singing chicken.
