I'm All Shopped Out (yes, you read that correctly)
My cousin Tanner is getting married this weekend. The Chickies were going to wear the dresses they wore at Easter. The only problem was that their shoes didn't fit them anymore. So I searched high and low for shoes. I finally found some yesterday at Tarjay that were okay-but-not-my-favorite-but-they-would-do. I got home, took out the dresses (that they only wore once, but that's okay because I got a really good deal on them at the Gymboree outlet) and new shoes. I dressed the Chickies up to see how they would look. They looked cute---except the girls INSISTED on GROWING despite the many pleas to stay little and threats to make them carry bricks on their heads to prevent said growth. So the little dresses that previously hit mid-calf were now above the knee. !!!! So off to the mall we go today. I walked into Gymboree and found THE CUTEST little lavender dresses. I may or may not have hugged Rhonda, the woman who works there (is it bad that I'm on a first name basis with her? And that she knows not only my name, but the Chickies' as well?). You have no idea how cute these little dresses were. And, you have no idea how cute the little matching purple Mary Janes were. But, Rhonda lowered her voice and said they didn't make them in Lulu's size this time. Gymboree has seriously let me down, folks. She said they only made them up to size 8. THEY ALWAYS CARRY THEM UP TO SIZE 10!!!!!!! The Horror. So, I sadly but confidently said, "No matter--I can surely find something in both sizes to match the dresses at Dillards or somewhere." I went into every. store. in. the. entire. mall. that carries children's shoes. But I couldn't find a single thing that would even remotely come close to matching. Finally, I went back into Gymboree, thinking surely she was joking and had a size 10 in the back. No luck. So I returned the dresses, possibly shedding a few tears. I found some little sailor dresses that are cute, but not as cute as the lavender ones. They had all the right sizes in shoes and socks and hairbows and I stuck my arm out for Rhonda to take my plasma and 3 pints of blood in exchange for the wedding attire. And I still don't have anything for ME to wear. I'm done, though. I'll be the one wearing pajamas and a bathrobe.
...and you have the face and figure that enables you to look good even in pajamas!!
ReplyDeleteDid you buy the navy blue dresses? Because I loved those. I love the new line too. I'm trying to drum up some reason to buy the green knit dress.
ReplyDeleteThe shoe thing DOES NOT get any easier. It was a giant headache for me last year.
Oh man, I was already in love with the lavender dresses. Now you have broken my heart too. :)
ReplyDeleteI am sure they will look like little dolls as usual! Send pictures!!!!
