Building An Ark
Well what do you know, it's raining again! And not just rain, either. "Can't see the neighbor's house" kind of rain. "Washing out the driveway" rain. "Sandbox toys floating" rain. But i'm not complaining. Because I would rather it be 88 degrees and raining than 105 degrees and having dead grass and flowers. Of course with the intense humidity it feels like 90-something, but still, it's better than the skin on the bottom of your feet sizzling like pork rinds when you walk on the sidewalk.
I just mowed, too. After 2 1/2 weeks of growth. It was up to Lulu's knees, and i'm not exaggerating. I couldn't stand it any longer. The grass was too wet, but it was driving me nuts. It took me FOREVER because I kept having to stop and clean out chunks of grass. And now i'm sneezing and feeling rather asthmatic because of all the mushrooms I disturbed.
All this wet weather has created frogs galore in our yard. The Chickies have had a ball collecting and squishing playing with them. They had their crayon box filled to the brim with squirming frogs this morning.
Our neighbors have been treating us to some great firework shows the past few days, and I can't wait to see what's in store tommorow night. Last year was so dry they outlawed fireworks, but this year they are everywhere. The girls love them and since we live on a hill, we can see multiple shows at once.
The pleasures of summer time in Texas!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting frogs in our little pond.. even went and picked up some tadpoles.
ReplyDeletenow here you have them without even trying.
Enjoy your rain.... who knows what tomorrow will bring.
