Abscence Makes The Blog Writing Easier

Ha ha, I almost wrote 'abstinence' instead of abscence. I guess that would work, too. Well, we're home from our lovely vacation in Maine. We got in about midnight last night. And ya'll, we had a lovely time. But you know, i'm glad to be home because not once did I hear the words 'ya'll' or 'lovely' while we were up there. It was such a relaxing, refreshing time. The weather was great--cool, breezy, NOT HUMID. We flew into New Hampshire and the only thing Kevin and I could say to each other for the first two hours was, "Trees! Look at the trees! They're beautiful! And big! And there are LOTS of them!" All the lakes and flowers and even the little gray squirrels were just lovely. We spent alot of time at the beach where the water was oh, about 40 degrees, but the kids didn't care that they couldn't feel their legs, it was FUN! Highlights of the trip are as follows:
  • Kevin spilled his drink on himself on the flight up there.
  • Lulu choked on her chocolate milk and spewed it all over the place on the flight home.
  • We bought ice cream from a real live ice cream man. I have never seen an ice cream man up close, much less bought anything from one, so when he came to the neighborhood, Kevin and I bolted outside like a couple of 6 year olds. The ice cream man is expensive, though.
  • The beach was neither humid nor windy, unlike Texas beaches.
  • gasp! There are no Dr. Peppers, and very little Cokes in New England. They all drink Pepsi, which the Chickies fell in love with and called them Peppies.
  • Aunt Mindy doesn't have a coffee maker so I went 5 WHOLE DAYS without coffee! I thought I was going to die. I was in a daze until about 11:00 in the morning. They do have Dunkin Donuts on every corner, but the one time we stopped in, the coffee tasted funky.
  • Also, they have very little Mexican food products of any kind in the grocery stores. Not even salsa! Kevin and I are having withdrawals.

I know you're all dying to see photos, so i've uploaded a few to Flickr. The pictures do a better job at describing the lovliness than I can write.
