Like Sands Through The Hourglass......

Me and the preschool just had a "Come-To-Jesus" meeting about an hour ago. See, last week Lulu was "Person of the Week". They wrote it on the little calendar they send home once a month, so I was getting her all pumped up about it last Monday. After asking her what being person of the week entailed, all I got was that she was the line leader and she got to hold the flag when they said the pledge. This was no big deal to her, because at her previous school, she was line leader and flag holder about every other week because, well, Mrs. Pat absolutely LOVED Lulu and i'm pretty sure she was her favorite. Well, this morning I was greeted with "Did you bring Lulu's pictures, because she was person of the week last week and you didn't bring any pictures to put on her enormous, but blank (because YOU forgot) banner that said "All about Lulu" in gigantous letters." To which, I almost started crying and screaming at the same time, because remember if you will, the other incident with the surprise bags. I replied, "I knew she was person of the week, but I wasn't aware that I had to bring anything." To which she replied in a way that said 'naughty-naughty!', "Well, you can bring them on Wednesday." The heck I will! So I raced home, got about a dozen pictures instead of the required three and raced back to school where I proceeded to walk right in the classroom and disrupt her class to speak my piece. I said (this is long, go get a glass of iced tea before you proceed), "Here are her pictures. I was not made aware last week that we needed to bring anything for person of the week. I was also not previously aware of homework or surprise bags until you said something to me a couple of weeks ago. I don't want Lulu missing out on the opportunities that the other kids have and I know this had to be weighing on her little mind, and I feel terrible about that. I don't want her to feel like we don't care about what happens at her school, because we do. So if there is anything else that we are not participating in or not bringing, I need you to tell me because we don't know about it. If you remember, we just started school in January so obviously we weren't given information like the rest of the parents were. Please don't think that just because she hasn't been doing this stuff, we don't care. Because we do. We just haven't been told about it." To which she replied, "I am sorry. Did you not get 'the packet' at the beginning of the year?' NOOOOOOO!!!!! THAT'S WHAT I JUST SAID WOMAN!!! DO YOU THINK WE WOULD BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION IF WE DID GET 'THE PACKET'???? That's what I was thinking, but very calmly I said, "No." She then apologized profusely and said she understood my concern and as I was leaving she was trying to find space for all 12 pictures I made her put up of my little Lulu. hee hee.
